A. Summary:
The real Chinese name of "uncle Ben" is Ben Woo. Every body callhim by many nicknames such as Mushroom expert and King Countyconstruction chief. Mr Woo didn't have a good childhood because it wasunfair for foreign childrens in the US some years ago. He had studiedin many careers, but opening an architectural company in Madition park, Seattleis his last decision. As a leader of Asian Americans, Uncle Ben is very wise; hehas a strong thinking, so many people often ask for his advice. Though heand his first wife divorced, he is a good father who took care of their 5childrens. Then Mr Woo got married to Ruth who is a mother of twochildrens. He is generous and gentle. Uncle Ben donated his ability aswell to build and keep the International District, an Asian culture area. The leader Woo has been admired by many people even native Americans. Sadly, MrWoo died when he was 84 by a heart attack; however, he will be remembered as agreatest leader by his family and people in Seattle.

B. Personal response:
After Ben Woo, Seattle will have some more great leaders of Asian Americans, but Mr Woo have became the greatest in people memory because he was too kind and sense of humor. I think He had to be gave a unique award for contributing to be one of some first leader Asian Americans in International District. International District is a big Asian culture area in Seattle. It not only reminds Asians their nation, for example, international Asian students will feel better when they are in a similar area with their hometown, but also Americans can know much more about Asian culture and people from diferent countries can learn more the differences between each other.

Homework in 01/16/08

I 've studied English when I was in high school in Vietnam. Nowaday, my country, Vietnam is also a member of WTO, so we need to commuticate with other countries by the popular language such as English. Therefore English is necessary and required in the future. Moreover, the US is a English speaking country and it has many kinds of majors for studying, so I would like to study in USA. When I decided to go to America , I don't know which state will be the best for me to study. However, since I came to Seattle , I think I will love studying here because I'm having a nice host family and good friends . Also, people in Seattle are very friendly and kind such as the bus drivers. I love people here!!

My novel in this quarter will be RUBYFRUIT JUNGLE, this is one of the book that my host's found for me in the storehouse. The author of this book are Rita Mae Brown, an emmy nominated screenwrite and a poet. She lives in Afton, Virginia. I decided on the book because it's kind of childhood story. There aren't only the happy things happened to the childrens , but also it has the painful things such as death of a member in family instead( the first 30 pages of the book).

My favourite kinds of News are events in the world and unusual things or people. I will pay attention to the News when I have free time, and I usually watch the news on weekends.
